Maral (Bolatian) Boursalian

Real Estate Agent Keller William Realty Silicon Valley REALTOR® | DRE# 02179115

After immigrating to the United States in 2000 to join my husband, I dedicated a decade to being a stay-at-home mother, actively involved in my children’s schools and supporting Armenian nonprofit organizations. This period of my life, marked by unwavering commitment and reliability, was a testament to my character. Building on my early academic foundation—a bachelor’s degree in economics—I returned to school to earn a Master of Public Administration and Nonprofit Management from the University of San Francisco. In addition, I have an Advanced Project Management Certificate from Stanford University.

In 2012, I began working at Stanford, leveraging my strong economics, data analysis, and finance background. However, it was my growing passion for real estate that led me to obtain my license in 2022 and join Keller Williams in the Bay Area in January 2023.

One of my notable comparative studies examines the link between housing prices and school ratings in the Bay Area. Campbell is one of the most cost-effective cities regarding home prices relative to school ratings. Another research project demonstrates that purchasing and living in a two-bedroom condo in Santa Clara County can increase net worth by nearly $700,000 after 10 years compared to renting.

By combining my passion for community development with my extensive expertise in economics and finance, I strive to empower clients and communities with data-driven insights that inform sound real estate and investment decisions. My competence and trustworthiness in these fields are the foundation of my work.

I am a wife and a mother of two wonderful daughters. I dedicated a decade to being a stay-at- home mother, actively involved in my children’s lives. I have a bachelor’s degree in economics, a Master’s(MPA) in Public Administration, and a Project Management Certificate from Stanford.

Renting vs. Buying

Renting Scenario

The Buying Scenario

Conclusion

For many buyers, the decision to rent or buy starts with one simple question: Which option costs less each month? But the bigger picture is how that choice may affect your net worth, savings, and long-term financial future.

This comparison looks at a 10-year scenario using an average Santa Clara County condo price of $1,133,000, a 20% down payment of $226,600, and a starting rent of $4,000 per month with annual increases. The goal is not to suggest that buying is right for everyone.

It shows how two people starting with similar financial resources can end up in very different positions depending on whether they keep renting and invest their savings or use those savings to buy a home and build equity.

The question is not only, “What will I pay today?” it is also, “What could I own and what could my net worth look like 10 years from now?”
